ABOUT TEXAS ARTS
Historically significant theater building in Hillsboro, TX in view of courthouse square. Built somewhere around 1889. The new owners Veritas Arts moved to town in late 2019. Renovations have already begun with an estimate grand opening in the Summer of 2020.

Veritas Arts INC (in partnership with SpenceTF LLC) is committed to spreading art and cinema that exemplifies truth with investments in theatres in new areas.

The Texas Arts Theatre will be a first run movie theatre showing the latest Hollywood blockbusters, classic movies, and independent films. We will be upgrading the venue to host live concerts and community theatre in this new performing and visual arts center.
HISTORIC VENUE
This Theatre has tremendous history located just south of Dallas TX. The establishment was built in the 1880s, but has not been open or operated as a movie theater in nearly 20 years. The last time the venue showed movies was in 2001-2002. We will reopen this historic establishment in early Summer 2020.
As with every historic theatre or building we occupy we strive to maintain the original look and design of the era. We are working with the local government, museum, library, and the prior owner Hank Faults to gather as much information as possible to restore this theatre to its former glory.
HILLSBORO TX HISTORY
Hillsboro is the county seat of Hill County, Texas. Located on Interstate 35 where I-35E and I-35W split south of the Dallas–Fort Worth metroplex, Hillsboro is the primary center for trade and commerce in Hill County. It is close to midway between the Metroplex and Waco, and is the gateway to Lake Whitney.
Hillsboro has an interesting and vast history! At one point during Bonnie and Clyde's robberies in Hillsboro there was a standoff at a local farm and the two escaped from the local jail. The city is known for its abundance of restored Victorian homes and its historic county courthouse, which in 1993, was heavily damaged by an electrical fire. Thankfully, it was rebuilt, courtesy of donations from around the world and two concerts sponsored by Hill County native Willie Nelson.

Hillsboro was the first home of the Texas Musicians Museum. Located a few miles north by northwest of Hillsboro, the Middlefaire site features a Renaissance Festival and Texas Pirate Festival. The movie Bottle Rocket, starring Owen and Luke Wilson, was filmed here. They used the Days Inn motel, the Hillsboro High School football stadium, and Highway 171 leading out of Hillsboro for filming locations. There is a historic photo of Elvis Presley walking in front of the Texas Theatre as many visiting artists played in the area. We look forward to being a part of the continuing rich history of Hillsboro Texas and the bright future for Veritas Arts INC.
